In 1943, master butcher Ruedi Kyburz acquires the butcher shop with the traditional inn Gasthof zum Ochsen, where guests have been welcomed for more than 200 years. Thereby, he lays the foundation for the Kyburz family corporate group. In addition, he runs his livestock and meat trade, developing it continually.
In 1982, the son of the founder, Hansruedi Kyburz, takes over the inn with the in-house butcher shop. He expands the livestock and meat trade, while his wife Theres takes care of the guests.
In 1984, the inn and the in-house butcher shop are renovated, to offer the guests a contemporary setting. The inn, now in the family for two generations, is managed with great care by the two Kyburz women Emma and Theres. Tradition, quality and a passion for meat made the inn what it is today.
In 1996, the poultry trade company Swiss Poulet Trade AG is founded, adding another business unit to the Kyburz family corporate group.
In 1999, Hansruedi Kyburz junior becomes the third generation to join the livestock and meat trade. With the section “Swiss rabbit” he introduces a new business unit to the corporate group.
In 2004, Hansruedi Kyburz junior further develops the poultry and meat trade by founding Prime Meat Swiss AG.
In 2009, Hansruedi Kyburz junior becomes CEO of the whole Kyburz family corporate group.
In 2017, the online shop meat4you.ch is launched, thereby opening up a new and forward-looking line of business for the in-house butcher shop. Just as cutting edge and unique to Switzerland, the ecological sustainable packaging concept is made from pure hemp and used by meat4you.ch to deliver its meat by post. All components of the packaging can be naturally decomposed, recycled or reused.
